Thank you for your interest in the Junior League of Austin! We are excited to get to know you and introduce you to our League.

When can I begin the application process?

A Membership Interest form is available starting in June each year on our website. It will provide us with your contact information and allow us to send you important dates and information about the Admissions process.

I have submitted the Membership Interest Form, what happens next?

Once you have submitted your new member interest form be sure to regularly check your spam/junk folder for updates from The Junior League of Austin and our Admissions committee.

Please plan to attend one of the official Admissions meetings in January. There will be two options available for this mandatory meeting:

  Tuesday, January 24, 2023, 6:30 p.m. (Virtual)

-OR-

Saturday, January 28, 2023, 2:00 p.m. (In-person)

After those meetings, you will receive the Membership Application that will ask for more detailed information.

Also there are some opportunities in the fall to meet our members:

Fall Open House: Admissions will have an Open House in October at the Junior League of Austin Headquarters. Please complete a Membership Interest Form to register to receive more information.

A Christmas Affair is a fantastic event in which all of our members participate. It is a 4-day event held at Palmer Events center in November. Please check our website for more details/ ticket information.

Coats for Kids is one of our favorite events every year. Held in December, our members and volunteers from the community give coats to kids who otherwise would not have one. Please check our website for volunteer information.

What are your age requirements?

In order to qualify for the next Provisional Class, you must be between the ages of 25-40 as of May 31 of the year your class will begin. For example, if you are applying for the 2023-2024 class, you must be at least 25 but no older than 40 years old before May 31, 2023. We do not offer waivers for this policy.

I live in Georgetown. Can I still apply?

Absolutely! We ask that all candidates live within the “Austin Admissions Area.” If you live in Travis County or any of the surrounding counties, you qualify.

I may need to transfer my provisional membership. What should I do?

I am currently a member of another Junior League and want to transfer my membership. Who do I contact?

I work full time and have a crazy life/kids/family/dog. What is the time commitment required to be a member?

Your first year in the League is well rounded as well as the most interesting. You will work on a variety of projects and get to know our League. Most consider the first year in our League as the most time intensive. There is a required number of volunteer hours and meetings. Each year is a little different, but you should expect to commit about 80 hours your first year. Please come to one of the admissions meetings in January to find out more!

I am trying to plan my wedding/vacation/root canal/life. Do you have the dates of all the mandatory meetings?

Our calendar runs June 1 to May 31, and a Provisional Chair is put into place in January. As soon as she gets her team together, they will begin mapping out the year. We will provide all the important dates to our new members as soon as we can.

What is a Provisional?

Our League has three classifications of members. If you are in your first year of membership, you are considered a Provisional member. Once you complete your first year successfully, you will become an “Active” member. At the age of 40 (but no later than the age of 45) you can elect to be a sustaining member.

How often do you pay dues? Who can I contact if I have a question about dues?

Dues are paid annually and due by April 1. We can pay our dues online or by check. Our Finance committee is responsible for collecting dues. The Membership Treasurer can be reached at membershiptreasurer@jlaustin.org.
