Coats for Kids 2020

posted on

Join The Junior League of Austin (JLA) for its annual Coats for Kids Drive December 1–12, 2020. Now in its 34th year, Coats for Kids plans to provide over 30,000 winter coats to children in need. JLA and its partners—Jack Brown Cleaners, iHeart Radio and KVUE —are asking for the community to once again step up and help make this year a success.

Get Involved

Looking for ways to help? Consider these options…

    • Donate a new or gently used coat. You can drop off coat donations beginning November 7 through December 9 at any Jack Brown Cleaners. Find the nearest location.
    • Make a monetary donation. As little as $20 buys a brand new coat! Donate.
    • Volunteer your time. Each year, over 450 JLA volunteers and more than 2,000 community volunteers participate. Register to volunteer

You can also help by organizing a coat drive with your school or group/business as part of the Coat Drive Competition. The competition runs from Monday, November 9 through Wednesday, December 2. Winners will be featured live on KVET 98.1 during their December 9 broadcast, as well as receive a banner and plaque illustrating their win! Learn more about entering as a school or as a group/business.

Safety First

Because of the ongoing pandemic, Coats for Kids will have a modified format this year to ensure the health and safety of our volunteers and participants. This modified format will rely more heavily on partnerships with schools and local service organizations to effectively and safely provide a coat to any child who needs one during Distribution Week (December 1–12, 2020).  Kids will also be able to pick out their coats during this year’s distribution week at the JLA Community Impact Center as in years past.
